On Friday April 22 the CDAI and our sister group GIG held their simultaneous displays of posters showcasing research on aging from across Hopkins and University of Maryland, and pictures reflecting Healthy Aging around the world.

competition goals and get ready to announce the winners. So much
expectation!
Sheldon Hall was packed with students, post-docs, and faculty presenting their work. 12 judges were circulating and analyzing the presentations. Although this was a competition, the overall feeling was of celebration. It certainly helped to have good munchies and beautiful, inspiring pictures being displayed in the background!
The prizes are great and also super cute! Amazon gift cards to the grand
prize winners. Many thanks to our sponsor, the Hopkins Center on Aging
and Health.
And the winner is.....
Mariana and Jimmy congratulating Yiwei Xu, the second prize winner.
Yiwei's pictures showing how the Chinese elderly have adapted to
changing times caught the judge's attention.
The grand prize went to Vanessa Burrowes - in the center. Vanessa
portrayed a good-humored 77-year old Baltimore resident. His important advice to healthy aging is to forget about how old we look, and focus on how we feel. Oh, and importantly, also he recommends flossing everyday!
Vanessa (second from left) also received a
honorable mention for a picture displaying the relationship between aging and art. The third prize went to Karuna Luthra for a picture of her grandpa who is himself a huge photography afficionado.
